GCM Online Store

GCM's previous website showed off the business well, but customers couldn't buy online. With a big retail lighting range in the showroom and plans to open up electrical, automotive and trade ranges down the track, the team needed a proper online store that could grow in stages rather than needing one big rebuild.

The store also had to fit the way GCM already worked. With no link to their business software in the first stage, it needed to be simple for staff to run day to day, with products, supplier catalogues and trade account applications all easy to keep up to date.

Rhythm Digital built the store on Shopify, with a design customised to GCM's bold black and yellow branding. We cleaned and imported the retail lighting product data, set up collections and navigation around how customers shop, and added custom colour swatches so finishes are easy to compare. Products with several options can be shown grouped or as individual listings, and a custom tag lets staff hide a product from the store without deleting it.

Alongside the shop, we built the About, Services, Suppliers, Contact and account forms pages, uploaded GCM's blog posts, and set up supplier catalogue pages for electrical, automotive and lighting so tradies can quickly find the range they need. Payments, the shipping matrix and local delivery were all set up and tested before launch.

We also wrote page titles and meta descriptions, set up Google Analytics and submitted the new store to Google once it went live.
