TACCO - the Tamworth Coalition of Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations - is a partnership between leading Aboriginal organisations in the Tamworth region, formed under the Closing the Gap initiative to drive inclusion, leadership, advocacy and monitoring.
TACCO existed as a partnership before it existed anywhere online. The coalition needed a first website that could do a lot at once: explain who TACCO is and how Closing the Gap works locally, hold the Community Development Plan, and act as a genuine shared platform where member organisations' job listings, community events, meeting minutes and news could all live in one trusted place.
The identity had to come from community too. TACCO ran a competition for its logo artwork, and the winning design needed to be digitised into a brand that could work everywhere - on the website and beyond.
Rhythm Digital digitised the community-designed artwork into a full logo suite, then built TACCO's website around it. The site is CMS-driven where it counts: members and partner organisations, job listings, a community calendar and notice board, meeting minutes, resources and news are all collections the coalition can keep current without a developer.
Cultural care was built in from the start, including an acknowledgement advising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander visitors about images, voices and names of deceased persons. The result is a site that serves the community first - practical information, upcoming events and pathways to the member organisations doing the work.
TACCO went from no online presence to a proper digital home for the coalition's work - a place where the community can find jobs with member organisations, see what's on, follow Closing the Gap progress locally and read the Community Development Plan.
It also deepened a relationship we value: Rhythm Digital now works with several TACCO member organisations, including Tamworth Local Aboriginal Land Council, TAMS and Birrelee MACS, each with their own website built or supported by our team.
